The Day of the Lord is Inevitable

Verse:
2 Peter 3 vv 10-11.
... says:

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way what kind of people ought you to be?, You ought to live holy and godly lives.

Thought for the day:

The Day of the Lord is Inevitable -- it will come. History as we know it will be wound up. God has determined an end to this world at some definite point in the future.
There aren’t many certainties in human history, but here is one of them. We have all learned something about history and the development of humanity over the centuries. Along with these studies there seems to be an unwritten assumption that development will continue in one form or another for ever. But the reality is that God has a different plan. He purposes to bring an end to things as we now see them and usher in a new creation in which all His people will have a place.
There can be no earthly force or demonic power able to frustrate this great purpose that God has. When Jesus said ‘I will come again’ he intended us to take that quite literally. People over the centuries may have questioned the timing of his return, or the manner of his coming, or even what happens after his return. But none of us should doubt the inevitability of his return. It is an already-fixed point in God’s plan for this universe.
